16 x 28 cm Mount Vision Soft Pastels
I limited my self to 4 light toned pastels and 4 dark tones - with the small amount of graduation achieved through layering.
I cropped Richards resource photo by using the entire width but cropping off the bottom 1/4 from the height

Thanks Lin - some great suggestions - not sure I'll have the time to do before the challenge closes as back to work tomorrow.

Julie, thank you. I have to say that I only did 50% of the work and rest is from Richard. The concept of colour, and composition design all are from his demo. I can tell that you were trying to have a warm setting. But the pastels colour are very soft and difficult to get effect of oil. That is why it looks cooler. I like your design and value of the foreground rocks which made them very conviencing. I also like your high light and details in the shadow, very effecient to make them realistic. The foliage at front are nice and can extent to the right a bit to cover that big space of shadow as Richard did. Dee suggested me to soften the edge of the horizon in order to push the mountain far away. I did  and it looks better. You may also would like to try her idea and see the difference. Be careful the sky, when you do it the sky also has to be lightened a bit. please check the photo and Richard's work. Good luck, Julie. You did a nice Job.
