I find most of the critiques or reviews of members works are very uninspiring. My thoughts on the subject are to be thought provoking and I think the appreciation of someone elses work is through the eyes of that individual. Comments shouldn't be cutting as this type of artistry is for me very self fulfilling and for pure self enrichment. I am truly a beginner, though middle aged my appreciation for someone to achieve a beautiful piece of art no matter what style… Continue

Ed, I will try to make the long story short. One day I decided to take some snapshot of Khali while she was playing "seek and hide" and luckily get the expression I was looking for and I did this painting with a reference of the photo that most closely had that expression, beside that I had the chance to observe closely her beautiful eyes. So that's what I try to capture in my painting since I know her pretty well. That is one of the reason why I like portraiture of pet/animals, cause the challenge for me is, not just achieving the likeness of the animal but her spirit and personality, like you will do when painting a human portrait.

I hope this answer your questions and feel free to ask me what ever, that's the intention of this site....I guess..... I hope.... =) have a grate one!

Hi, there! Thank you for your comment, I will try to answer to your questions. When the horse is in rest position you wont see the muscles marked as they would in action, I have never own a horse nor been near by any, all I know about them is due to my love and passion I have for this magnificent creature, I have read a lot and even done sculpture in which you have to go and understand the horse conformation, and there is where I learned about muscles, and that's what I like to give in my painting, I invite you to have a look at my site at www.portraitsxsue.com and give me some comments.

I love any kind of animals, but horses are my specialty per say....

I want to recommend you a book that I found very helpful Animal Painting and Anatomy by W. Frank Calderon
