- Joe is a self taught artist. As a young boy in the first grade he started drawing. From North Carolina, he has traveled the world: not because he's wealthy, but thanks to the military. A veteran of 26 years, he served two tours in Viet Nam with the Air Force and after a break of 16 years, he joined the Army during Desert Storm. In 2004 he stayed the year in Iraq and finally retired in 2008.
He has always loved art but put most of his creative juices into Photography as a wedding photographer and the senior photographer for a newspaper. Since retiring, he picked up the brushes again and started his art career with many of his works in private collections across the U.S. and Canada. Without a formal education in art he has been inspired and helped by many great artists.
'There are a many artists that inspire me but instead of just looking at the great masters, there are many that I learn from today'.
We all have gifts from God and I believe that everyone has art in them.

Adding water drops to still life

This is a still life of a tomato. I guess you have already figured this out. I like this but I'm going to try to add pouring water drops on it. I will photo the work in process. I'm always striving to get better and try new techniques. I hope you enjoy it, and if anyone would like to offer suggestions I will appreciate it.…

Hi Joe, I'm actually an art collector, not an artist, while I seem to have some artistic talent, I haven't developed it. I'd like to take lessons someday (a retirement goal for me), but don't have the time while working full time. I like your work and have flagged the VW painting of yours as a favorite of mine.

Hi Joe, thanks and I'm looking forward to participating on Complete Artist. I work a ton at my "day" job but I'm bound and determined to keep up with painting. It's where I'm most happy, well almost, my grandkids do steal 1st place. Happy painting!
