I am about to undertake a large painting in oil. It is 4 ft by 2 ft horizontal. I want to paint Mount Rainier in Washington. The mountain is off to the right, not taking up the whole painting. Any suggestions how to go about this? I have printed out some photos and taped them together so far.

Large painting demo video part 2...http://youtu.be/OH_0xJBN9rQ
Well, I just read all of the 23 "rules" of landscape painting. Thanks, Stuart, what a help it was. I thought I knew all the rules! Now, I have to move things around in the painting. I kinda knew that Mount Rainier was too far off the canvas, just didn't want to have to move it. (mountains CAN be moved!) So, I am going to move 3 things, the large mountain, the trees and the lake all move to the left so I can have a better composition with 2 focal points. Don't think I will get to it this week, though.
I am going to watch that video before I do any more, but this is the sky so far. I want it to be a morning surise painting with lots of light on everything, and shadows, if possible. I appreciate any help at all. I want the horizon line to be more orangy, glowing... hmmm... sooo much to think about! Maybe I think too much.
I am sooo happy that people are helping me paint this large painting... or at least give me tips! Thank you thank you thank you. I would love tips from you, too Richard. :)
