Really nice Dirk, you captured those cliffs in a very painterly manner.
Thanks for the comments. Karlo these are small studies from this month's workshop & Stu i'll give the workshop a go in the next couple of days.
Beautiful! I love the subtle details and your color schemes.
What a Great Studies ! Thanks! Is this from plain air..
Wow, Dirk, you made a good example of cool bright face on rock. I always wondering if the bright side of the rock has to be warm? If no, how it would be. You gave a good example of just that. You are always very good with your cool grays. May I ask what color were you used on the third rock?
There's great confidence in this work, Dirk.
Have you found the right combinations of warm and cool hues you are looking for?
The differences are subtle, hard to pick up in a single piece, yet obvious when seen against each other in a montage like this. The blue-grays of the sea working against the brown-grays of the rocks. The greens and the yellows... And then another point... It's amazing how differently the highlights read on all four studies.
Thanks for posting these.
Fabulous fabulous brushwork, Dirk!
Very interesting and well done studies !
