Beautiful beautiful work! Awful photo. A word to the wise - I can't use poor photos for magazine critiques.
Good job,Diana!
Thank you for taking the time to critic Michael, some very good advise there, i will attempt to apply it.
i enjoyed this workshop, but only joined on the 23rd so didn't have much time.
Great work Diana! ... very confident and lively brushwork. I like how you have used edges and detail to make the large boat the focal point .. your other elements support it nicely. One thing Diana. You have a slight problem with value and temperature. The shadow side of the large boat is the same value and color temperature as the light side. Maybe a more middle value gray (burnt sienna and UB + wt) instead of just off white? ... The gray would then have bounced warm reflected light in it ... the value difference between the shadow side of the red part and the light side is okay ... do the same with the other part. Now, the light side of that boat should be lighter and warmer ...use thick paint .. one or two strokes and leave alone. Everything else looks pretty good.
