Sound good Xiao! .. great painting. I well I know that photos really do not capture all the lovely nuances we put in our paintings. :)
Thank you Michael and Ann for your comments! Thank you Michael for your analysis. It was a sunny day. The shadow was there and I like the effect of them on the wall, but I don't want to paint a blue sky, so I put more clouds in the sky than it was there, and the wall if you look at it closely it was not completely white. There are some warm tune there underneath, and because the white and red contract was the one that attracted me the most, so I want to keep the relationship and don't want to make it like a sunset scene so I kept it that way. The bushes at the front bothers me too, but they were there and I thought may be a boring front may make the central scene pop. May be I do need to open it a little. Hm.. I'll see what I can do. Thank you both for the suggestion.
Beautiful painting Xiao ! I would trim the bushes so that we can visually enter the painting
I agree with all the comments Xiao! I love the sky and your tonal values. Everything is cool here because of the cloudy sky .. that is good ... BUT .... since you are showing a cast shadow of the palm tree on the wall, the sun must be peeking through and shining on the walls? .. if that is the case, then those white walls require some sunlit warmth .. as broken color. same thing with your red/orange roofs. Now, if there is NO sunlight in this painting, then you are good to go ... but you do have that cast shadow??? Also, I am not to keen on the "wall" that you have set up with the foreground bushes.
Thank you George, Cristina, Jon and Pauline for your encouraging comments. I am still experiencing different ways of painting. This one is testing for palette knife and it was fun.
