I love these poppies but never got round to painting them as I found the whole composition too flat. In the sketch I changed the lie of the land so that it is a field dipping downhill, rather than flat. I changed the treeline too so that balanced this hill. And I slightly changed the path to make it more defind and "flowing". I would be really happy to hear any comments. This was a really helpful exercise; to really look and analyze the compositional elements and try to find improvements.

Hi Craig, many thanks for your very helpful comment. I much appreciate you taking the time to give me your advice. Thank you!
Love the sketch , when you make the painting you could add poppies smaller and greyer along the road to the right of the road which would turn the viewer back into the picture again
Congratulations Mario on your "Beautiful" sketch! Smiles :-)
:-) Beautiful sketch!
Hi Dorian, Many thanks for all your encouraging comments. I see what you mean about the horizion. I will try another sketch to take this into account and see what happens. Smiles to you!
I think the horizon line should not be sloping down in the middle. Your lie of the land is indicated to me by the road which shows that the land is not flat. Good work! Happy painting and smiles :-)
Oh Aurelia, thanks a lot. I'm very pleased to get your comment. Yes you're right, I should do a painting of it having done the composition exercise.
You did an excellent job improving the composition. Looking forward to see the painting.
