Annie thanks I do have it my lounge room and enjoy looking at it which is a test as a lot of stuff I paint over or turn over and hide behind something hoping they will magically reappear in another form. The workshops are really helping point me in the right direction. Looking forward to trying more still lifes, painting more regularly and learning as I go.

Hi Justine This is definitely a favourite with me this round. I am a newbie to oils and not very good at critiquing I think everyone is a great artist on this site But this is a very beautiful painting It attracts the eye and I would be proud to have it hang in my loungeroom. I couldnt see anything amiss at all and then I saw Richards critique MMM so this is the way we learn Great job Love Annie

Justine, your painting is very good and I hope you get a lot more feedback.  You are much better at simplification than I am.  My painting came out well for me, I believe, and benefitted from some minor revisions that Susie Gregory prompted with her incredible astute eye.  That is what I like so much about this site, the interaction between different artists with often different styles is fantastic.  Stu

Thanks Stu.  I wasn't really sure if it worked so good to get some positive feedback.  I agree with you re the floating orange effect.. I had a go at darkening the shadows but as the paintng was a bit dryer I started loosing other elements so left it.   Looking foward to see how yours works out.

Justine, very nice work.  Your reflections on the cup are very nice.  You could use a little more dark under your right and left oranges to set them down on the cloth (like the center orange), but this is probably a nit pick.  Your brush strokes are great.  About to finish mine today and I hope it comes out half as well as this.  Stu
