16" x 20" oil on textured hardboard. Painted alla prima in studio from Richard's photo references (mine were not as good!). After Richard's video demo and his two live demos painting boats and some hands on instruction at the boatyard by Richard, I think I am getting it!! Looser, bigger and bolder than I usually paint, but the proof of the pudding will be if I can paint outdoors this way!!

Stuart, came back in to check this out, really great; but, I think you could rework your figure.
Thank you Ann!! We need to paint together this Summer! Silvana, if you ever get the chance to come to the Bay Area, you are most welcome to come stay with us; my kids are all grown with their own families and we have plenty of room and live just 15 miles North of San Francisco!! Candi, thanks! I have a lot of friends in Wisconsin and will enjoy every minute of it.
Really nice Stuart! Enjoy your trip!
:) !!! If possible.... I would love being there... For the time being I'll enjoy the virtual Workshops and my virtual presence in the plein air painting!!!! :)
Beautiful light on the main boat. The dark clean value on the right side works to pop out the boat
Thank you Silvana!! Much of the credit should go to Richard and his amigos from my recent workshop!! Highly recommended next year when they do it again!
Well, it's superb Stu!!!
Thanks, Silke! I did go out yesterday and painted some boats on the water and was pleased with the result. I will post my painting today in my photos in the gallery. Then, I am off to Wisconsin to paint farms and little towns. I hope you had a good time on your drive down the California coast!!
Thanks Laura!! I think that the Robinson/Crump/Hamill workshop was just what I needed!
