oil on a 9"x12" board
Painting on a board is a quite different experience. Richard was right, every single brushstroke is visible. Sometimes the Gesso on the board shows through. I can see that glazing over this would be a plus.

Thanks Dor and Jan. your tips are much appreciated. Because this one never dried, I did the other one that I finally glazed, in acrylic. It has been a long time since using acrylics. I forgot how much I enjoyed painting with them. An artist friend always blocks in her first layers with acrylic and then builds with oils. Maybe I should start doing that.

Helen Van Wyk used to do her gray scale with an acrylic (thinly painted) and then she would glaze over some parts and paint over others with opaque paint.  They looked gorgeous.  :D

Be happy about that!  I ruined mine because I was putting glaze everywhere and made a mess!  Now you know only a tiny bit of glaze and only in a few places just where you would really like to highlight something. IMHO  : ))

Thank you, Dor. It still isn't dry. Oh, we'll. :-)

Jan, thank you. I don't think I will have time to glaze it before I leave town because it is still not dry; so I did another one in acrylic. I will finish this one when I return. We shall see.

I think that might glaze up beautifully.  Foreground is interesting ...like that clump of forest on the left,

This is really wonderful Nancy..I can see the sun peeking through even in the grisaille. I can't wait to see this glazed!

Thank you, Sylvana, Linda and Stu. If it ever dries, it will be fun seeing what glazing will do.

Very nice, Nancy. Your warm undertone on the canvas will help wam this up when you glaze. Stu
