But Michael , I prefer to include the sky.. Of course depends of photos.. It really adds to waves and complete the story..Also i think easier to sell.. But for that I prefer panoramic format..( 1 : 3 or 1:2,5 or similar..)

Michael I agree with Joy, but I think you know this better then me - as you told once if you look subject as a shapes and arrange them in interesting composition then - everything can be nice paintings (now this is a Big question what is nice for somebody..). But I have seen nice paintings with only sky , or clouds ..

maybe this small painting is not really great example of this because the most interesting part is in the lower right part ..

Very nicely done Karlo!!  Karlo, I have a question for you.  I have a few reference photos of close up shots of a wave .with the nice light coming through the curl ..etc.   My question:  is it okay composition to just show a wave ..no sky, beach, headleand, etc. ...just the wave and the water around it.  If anyone knows the answer, please let me know...thanks.
