Hi, Peter, Thank you for asking.... I have used the red edge for a few reasons with this series of paintings.
First, Cadmium red light has to be my all time favorite color.
Second, I wanted something to convey the shock that we all felt by the attacks of 9-11. The series was originally intended to commemorate those who suffered because of that day, those who died, those who rescued, those injured, and all of us....
Third, I also like the symbolism of courage associated with red.
Fourth, it sets these little floral paintings apart from the ordinary.
and, I guess, fifth, I rather like it.... In fact I have used it a bit on other paintings that I have started.... the fun factor..

I hope to hear from you aain!
