Lovely!!
easier said than done getting teh lighting the right way - still need to tinker, but I put the set up in a box I made from black foam core with holes cut out for the light to shine through - certainly not ideal!! At any rate, the shadows are beginning to look better, but of course now I need to go get some new sunflowers!! Hopefully I'll find some in my travels tomorrow:)
lol...MILES, though how funny!
Going to give this a try!! Thanks for the help -- saw your pumpkin & friends! Gorgeous work Michael...sigh!!! boy do I have mikes to go!! Glad to have the help of my friends on the journey!!
Hey Lori, Use the lamp to illuminate the set up ...then turn off your studio lights and use the clip on light to illuminate your easel. I think the eucalyptus (I bet you had spell checker on that one!)? is fine . You might find that when you put some light on this set up ...the values and color temps will be altered ...especially the background stuff. ......I am referring to the greenery close to the background.
BTW Lori, what will happen compositional wise, is your eye will move into the painting via the long stem on the left, then hop from light to light (the gourds) ...along the body tone of the vase ...and ..POW ..right into the brightly lit sunflower. You will also have cast shadows on the table from the pumpkin and vase. Make sure when you set the light up, that a cast shadow from the pumpkin hits the vase AND the table. Go to my website and check out ..'PUMPKIN AND FRIENDS". I have almost an identical set up ..kind of. :))))
Hi Lori, I agree with Silke .....you need some darks in the form of shadows. Do you have a photo lamp ..the kind with a reflector? If you do, put it on the left of your set up ..that way you will create interesting shadows on the gourds, vase, and flowers ..as well as a cast shadow from the pumpkin onto the vase ..your main sunflower will be lit up on the right side .....all good!!!!!
