This is done in oil on 11x14 canvas board. I chose to eliminate the dome & instead add the alps in the background with the aim of directing the viewer to the focal point. I hoped to create enough contrast in shapes with the exaggerated roundness in the clouds

love it.... especially the sail on the red boat
thanks very much Shelly & Maria:)
Lori, this is a lovely painting. Using your artistic licence you have made the red boat the centre of attention. Lovely control of values.
Very dramatic. Good aerial perspective and makes me want to keep looking at it. Nice job!
Thanks Candi, Silvana & Michael!
Great idea with the mountains Lori!!
Beautiful!!!
It's beautiul Lori!
Beautiful Lori!!!
That makes sense Silke! I think Iwent too saturated with the blue - that's supposed to be reflecting that part of the boat Richard mentioned was painted for...??? I forgot the term!! I will go back in and desaturate it and indicate more of the darker color moving down. Thanks for the observation:) To be honest that same blue in the foreground boat seems too saturated now that I see it on the computer screen!
