Nice job Rick, but be careful here ...... your trees and shadows indicate your light source is from the left, but your rock and its shadow indicate the light source is from the right.   By making the "sunlit" side of the rock the shadow side (as it should be)  and putting a rim light on the edge of that rock and then extending the rock shadow across the trees ....look out!!....you have a pretty exciting area there!!  Put a warm color (reddish orange) path (or something) leading to the rock so your eye moves into the painting, up to the rock, across the rim light (on top of the rock), and over to your brightly lit tree trunk!! ...Whew!! ..that is going to be so nice!

Hi Stu, thanks very much.  The location is Griffith Park.  I think they're plane trees in the front and "the minor red wood" in the rear.

Nicely tweaked to near perfection.  Very nice interplay of cools and warms, lights and darks.  Great composition.  What's the location and are these eucalyptus trees?  Remember, I grew up in Glendale.   Stu
