Thanks Nan, Your question might be a good question for the open discussion. There are some very knowledgeable painters following Richard's workshops.
Good painting,
Bill
Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions. I do appreciate the feedback very much.
Bill, I am only using water mixable oil paints to avoid solvents . I use the Duo brand mostly but I use Lucas water mixable oils, too. I have read you can use up to 20% of regular oil paints with the water mixable oils. I have not tried this. I am always curious to know if people using the water mixable oil paints find they get the results they want with them. When I watch people painting with regular oil paints it seems like the paint spreads more easily.
When You say mostly using water mixable oils, does that mean you are mixing them with regular oil based paints? I have been wondering if you can mix them. Oh and I like your painting. Bill
I like your work very much.
The colours and tones work well and I like the way your distant buildigs become greyer and less distinct.
Nan, your first post is a very nice one. I can tell the effort you put in this painting. And you deserve those nice comments from the others whom pay attention to this work. Back to the painting. I would lower the building in the front and let it show its roof and to add some reflection of the post of the pier. It would make the down part of the canvas not so empty. Just a thought for you to consider for your later on work.
Hi Nan
Very nice painting. It is so scary to paint your first painting and post it. And yes they look so different up here than they do on your easel! Happy Painting to you and smiles: ))
Thank you for your observations. I just recently joined and so this is my first painting posting. Most of the landscapes I've done in the past have a lot of green in them. Painting shades of blue in the sky and water has been a good experience.
I have looked at many of your painting and think they are so well done.
Very good, I can feel the sunlight and atmosphere. I think you handled your darks very nicely ..which sets up everything else.
Thank you for your comment. Seeing the painting on the computer screens brings out things I had not noticed when looking directly at the painting.
Very nice, I especially like the foreground water and rocks
