Thomas, I wish I were that young.  My daughter is  44.   I try and keep young in spirit.  I'm very healthy, so that helps a lot.  I started painting at age 9 but stopped 2 years later and then started again after I finished medical school.  I have used art as my stress reliever always; it works better than anything else that I know of.  Stu

Stu, your version of Mark Twain's words are more powerful. Great thoughts there ... Thank you very much for sharing them!
Let me add that i am 45. So we must be about same age, i just look a little younger than my number suggests ;-)

Thomas, I paraphrased the quote from Mark Twain, the great American Humorist of the 19th century.   Here is the actual quote which is much better stated than my paraphrase: "You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus".  I think I am a lot older than you, but I still don't always know to where I am headed.   I think that you have to go where your imagination takes you, because you will eventually arrive at that place where you are most comfortable.  I really enjoy the titles for your paintings and the stories behind them.  This stuff is the poetry of the art.   Keep the little boy in you; I always try to keep it in myself because it keeps me searching for that next thrill in my painting.   Be careful not to get too addicted to plein air painting, because it can kill the desire to work in the studio; it is just too much fun to paint outdoors.   However, what you find outdoors, you can take back inside and make it even better if you apply some imagination.  It is all about the journey anyway.   Each artwork is like a little town you stop in or that shop or restaurant that you linger in on your holiday; the inspiration that led you to paint the painting is much more important than the artwork itself.   When someone else sees what you saw by looking at your art, you have achieved your goal; your art has told the story and now you feel fulfilled.   Stu

Great citation Stu and new to me (like usually)
This is what bothers me most. Now me eyes are getting better in color, hand is getting looser with the brush i wonder what to actually do with it. I have to thrill and surprise myself more, The little boy in me keeps saying (in the best case): nice painting, yawn. I have no idea where i need to go yet, just that it is somewhere else and that i will need there what i learn here.
