Well, after a try with sails (disaster!), I felt I wanted to be more literal about it - just see if I could capture the light by paying attention to values and color temperature - oil, 50 x 65 cm

Beautiful, vibrant colour, Jon :)
Lovely painting Jon, I am so pleased you painted in 'le vrais château d'Yvoire' I was worried by the appearance of a Venetian church in Yvoire!! Also I was not at all sure about a yacht with its sails up in harbour, Richard was exercising his full artist licence here! The only perhaps useful comment I can make is maybe the two bottom corners are a little too similar, less green and softer edges on the right might have stopped the eye going out at that corner. Very impressed congratulations.
Hi, Dor! thanks :)
Thanks, Lori - I can see some things I could try and rectify - but I find it's presence comforting - it's the only painting I've done in two months - no ideas/motivation!
what a wonderful painting Jon!!
Hey, thanks Walda (yeah, I felt I didn't want the sail), Manneherrin, and Michael (thanks for giving the detailed comment!)
I like your literal interpretation, Jon! The sail really bothered me too.
beautiful!
