I'm trying to figure out a good palette for painting copper..anyone have an idea?
I used bt sienna, cad red light, cad orange, pthalo & white

great link Jon! Thanks so much..seems there are many roads to Rome! Now I just need to get a good composition and try out the different palettes to see which works best for the painting!

Hi Lori......The following is a formula I learned, from famous oil painter Helen Van Wyk, for painting copper which has worked wonderfully well for me.............

Body Tone (Base Tone) : mix  Burnt Siena, Cadmium Red Light, bit of Black and White

Body Shadow : mix  Burnt Sienna, Alizarin Crimson, Thalo Blue

Highlight: mix white, Cadmium Red Light, Cadmium Orange

Darker Reflections : mix Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber

Light Reflections : mix Cadmium Red Light and light gray (black / white mixed)

I think you will need cad yellow light + white for the highlights?  ..It looks like copper to me Lori.  :))
