Thanks Pauline. I missed you this month and I hope to see your work this next competition. I always enjoy the positive energy and expressiveness you put into your work. Stu

Just browsing, seeing what you've all been up to!  Love the loose style of this painting Stu everything gels together beautifully.  i agree, the centre pole is a little distracting otherwise very easy on the eye with great colour balance. i have some catching up to do :-))

Ann, thanks. Center power pole to come out. Increased color is result of plein air. Stu

Great painting ! A little more color with the greys than you have sometimes in your work. The water is beautiful with the feeling of cool reflection. I didn't notice the twin poles until they were pointed out. I would take out the power pole that is in the center of the painting it is a little confusing with the shape behind it.

Thanks David and Vladmir.  Actually, I think the credit card is just a pathway to more use of palette knives.  See my little blog on "brush alternatives".   Stu

Excellent Job Stu!  The water very realistic. You definitely have your own style. I can look at you painitings an say "I think thats a Stu Gourlay painitng" It seams as though you really like that credit card now :)

I like this painting. It seems 2posts point out to new path not to the marsh-concept.

Yeah, those two light poles really do look stupid.  Of course I put them in because they were there!  I will take at least one of them out and touch this up a little.   As JV says: "You are done with the painting when you take out everything that you don't need."  and I sure didn't need at least one of those poles.  This was my first outdoor credit card painting; I really need to get better with my palette knife and brushes though.   Thanks, Stu

You have a lot of nice subtle greys on this one Stu!! ....looks real good.....it does have the feel of that area of the Bay.  Your sky and cloud have just enough color to give balance to your grey tones ..nice!  You handled the poles and wires with nice broken lines and crisp little lights.   I do not like the 2 light post facing each other ..they really draw attention to themselves and block that nice warm toned tree ..I would eliminate 1 of those light posts.
