Kellar Beach 11' by 14" oil on textured panel. Laura Xu came up from Sunnyvale and painted over at Point Richmond with my Saturday plein air painting group. Beautiful day. Laura had a very nice painting of an oil tanker unloading at the Richmond Chevron Refinery pier in front of Mt. Tamalpais. I went for (as usual) the more complex scene with the houses along the shore.

Thanks Lori.  The more I paint outdoors the easier it becomes and the better the paintings get.   Laura Xu drove all the way up from Sunnyvale to paint with us that day (about 60 miles).   She is really excited about plein air painting and her work is just getting better and better.  I love to see the energy she puts into a painting.

It was fun, Ann.   Next time you need to come up with Laura too.   Stu

Thanks Jon and Ann.   Laura had a good time  and is up visiting Michael and going to Yosemite.   I told her to set up something for the 4 of us to go out painting together sometime this Summer--you and I, Michael and Laura--our little Northern California "The Complete Artist" plein air painters club.    Stu

Nice use of greys and greens, the figures add interest and make the viewer want to be there.

Thanks Laura, Michael and Joy. I think the angle of the deck would throw anybody Joy. I haven't done any studio "tweaks" yet, but clarifying the figures a little, popping some highlights into the little waves, and straightening up the house plus signing it were my plan. I will repost it after that. Stu
