10 x 12in oil on linen
One of my favorite subjects to paint, old weathered abandoned houses. This one is located about an hours drive from Reykjavík. It is in a fjord called Hvalfjördur. About fifteen years ago they built a tunnel under the fjord, which saves people about an hours drive going north. But that means that most of the buildings there were deserted.

Hi Andri. I have to clarify that when I spoke about the simplicity of this scene, I was not saying that it was an easy or "simple" painting. I was referring to the beautiful way you handled this scene by making a quick statement ..no clutter!! This is the hardest thing for me in my art ... to say something, keep it simple, and get out!! ..You have done this very well and I am keeping a copy of your painting for my educational purposes.
Thank you for the comments guys. Michael I am very very happy that I have inspired you. Yes the scene is very simple, but there were so many different textures and edges, and the play of shadow and light that I couldn´t resist it.
Hvílíkur kraftur! Vel gert!
This painting is about light and texture ...... the grey walls make your other colors come alive!! ....The simplicity of this scene is what makes this painting stand out. You have made a very poetic statement. You have inspired me to go out and search a similar subject to paint .... and try to do it as good as this one.
Excellent! I love your brush work and color combinations! Such a simple scene, but you've turned it into a very nice piece -- one that I would definitely purchase!
