Wow Great work
Tammy, My parents lived in Idaho and traveled the back roads every weekend. This is more likely taken in south eastern Idaho along the Snake River. But the fun things about paintings are they can take you anywhere you would like to go.
I so appreciate the constructive feedback. It is a VERY helpful aspect to this process. I'm waiting for the painting to dry a little and then I will attempt to utilize the ideas given to enhance it more. The other aspect that I need to master is getting a good photograph of the paintings. This looks much darker here than it does real time. Thank you all for your input.
Gorgeous!!
Lovely painting Lisa.
Very nice Lisa. I like your handling of the autumn trees . good shapes, color, and value. A few things about your composition: Your painting can be about the autumn trees or their reflections, but not both ..as you have it here. Both the trees and the reflections are really well painted, but both are attracting attention. The small land mass on the left is not needed ..without that little mass, you would have had 4 nice value shapes ..it breaks up the potential design you had. Try not to put such a strong contrast ...as the dark in the lower right corner of your water ..at the extreme edges or corners of the painting ..it draws the eye to that point ..in fact, you did not need any of the darks in those reflections ...just a simplified reflection of your trees would have done it. You have painted well the sky, water, trees, and the reflections ...it is your composition you must address.
Lovely reflections. Was the original photo taken close to Lake Lowell?
I like this colors of water and shadows in the water ! Beautiful painting !
(maybe It is little strange to see this channel of water going left behind the trees..probably because its color is so different from main stream..)
