Oil on textured panel 11" by 14". I tweaked the upper sky with a grayed down yellow after Stephen Williamson commented that it looked too blue and did not read right. I also tried to show the infused light through the trees a little better.

This one has more life because of the warm light at the background , on the ground and on the trees. Those light effect makes big differences.

Thanks Michael. Wish I could do more of this in plein aire instead of having to apply so many fixes in the studio. Stu

Excellent Stu!!!  This is really a nice painting....you have nice contrasts  of  size, line, direction, and value.  I like your use of  the repetitive rhythms of your tree trunks ..no boredom there!!  We have a nice quiet place to rest on the path and your dominant cool color scheme gives the painting a morning feel.  Your figure gives scale to those tall trees and your dominant vertical direction is balanced nicely with some horizontals.  I love your "Naples Yellow" looking color at the horizon.  Everything is clicking on this painting Stu.

Thanks Pauline; the trees are quite tall and are everywhere. I,m glad my painting expresses that because their tallness and fascinating colors in the bark are what I like about them. Stu

Nice painting Stu, the trees look even taller now that you've tweaked it.  love the distant people they give the whole piece a lovely big perspective. :-))
