This lady in her colourful batik dress was checking out the market stalls, some of which had already closed for the afternoon break in the hot sun.
This was done with brushes & palette knife & taking Winston Churchill's advice of never never never giving in - i.e., lots of attempts to get this shade/light to work! Think I will try again with another scene...

Thank you Ana!
Good work Jessica!
Thank you Sherry!
Love her dress, and the market scene.
Thank you all, Dan, Ruby, Silvana, Laura, Michael, Olivia & Cristina! I really appreciate your encouragement! Michael, all your points are very helpful & well taken - I will work on this some more; thanks again.
This has been a particularly tricky painting - I am not used to using phathlo blue and found it very difficult to control - then I ended up with chalky colour which I had to attempt to correct. I haven't given up on it yet :)
Delightful!
Lovely scene Jessica. those fruit stalls are great
Well done Jessica!! ...I like it very much. May I suggest that since we are looking into the light, that you paint the sky much warmer and brighter ...THEN ....meld that last building INTO the glare of the light ....you will achieve luminosity and add atmospheric depth to your painting. Graying the tone, raising the value, and softening the edges into the sky, of that area, will also disconnect that area from the right hand buildings in shade. Also, your figure, which is backlit, should be darker ...with strong rim lighting. One more thing: the structure shape on the right ....make them higher so your lines of the right and left do not form a tangent. This will also give you a better shape to the sky and will also provide you with depth per the overlapping.
Great subjuct Jessica. It is beautifully done!
Lovely Jessica!!! It's hard work, and you are right... one should NEVER give up!!!! :) ! I like the colourful shop!
