Was in Venice some years ago before the days of digital photography & came away with only a handful of photos - nothing very paintable - it was really a pleasure to follow Richard's video & paint this beautiful scene today!

Thank you very much Olivia!
Very striking Jessica. your handling of the water is terrific
Thank you so much everyone - Jon, Lori, Laura, Michael, Ann, Steinunn & Linda! I appreciate all your comments. Michael, you are completely right - I just softened a lot of those edges in the background & it looks a lot more interesting. Will repost it tomorrow.
I like it very much Jessica, especially the depth and movement of the water .
Beautiful brushwork in the water ! Lots of thick juicy paint
Jessica, as usual ... a very well done painting!!! ...I really like the way you "pushed" the paint around to get the watery effect in the foreground. The background would be more mysterious and have further depth, if you would not have such sharp edges to those buildings ....it looks like you have attempted to draw them very precisely, which is what you do not want to do ...I think the value is okay, but recommend you just diffuse those edges a little...keep the sharp edges for the foreground stuff.
Great job, Jessica! It is soooo beautiful!
I like the controlled feel of the drawing and brush strokes - and the high key background - gives it unity
