Good start Suzanne!!  You have real nice lighting  ..the poles connect the foreground plane with the sky and background.   Now to make that light REALLY shine and sparkle ...first make the gondola and figures much darker (and warmer), then paint the background buildings the same color as the sky and water ..ONLY ..a LITTLE  darker then the sky and water  ..  then take your painting knife and load the edge up with your moonlight color (your lightest light) ...and deposit the paint where you have your light ....just paint this light what would be the crest of the wavelets.   ...   If you do not want to do that, then at least make the gondola and figures darker.
