20" by 16" oil on stretched canvas, studio painting. This is one of my "windshield series" paintings. Photo reference shot with a point and shoot digital camera out of my car. This is 4th Street at B Street San Rafael during a very rainy morning. This painting is up in the MOS (Marin Open Studios) gallery at the time of this post.

Thanks Ann.  This is a good example of painting with grays to make saturated color pop and was a fun painting to do from a compelling photo reference.   Stu

Thanks Lori.  The gallery is our local MOS (Marin Open Studios) annual show with over 250 artists with one work each.  It's up for a month and we have a lot of visitors.  My home studio is open to vistiors on the weekend of the 10th and 11th.  I joined the Board of Directors of MOS just this year but have been an exhibiting artist with them for about 5 years.   Marin County is one of the smaller counties in California (in population) but has the most artists per capita oif any county in the US.   Out county fair is extremely competetive to get juried into; unless I sell that painting before the fair in early July, I will enter it.  Thank you for the complements.

Thank you very much Thomas, Colleen, saghi, Laura, Michael C. and Michael S.   Your comments are very much appreciated.  I have been painting more and more from life, but my photo reference was a compelling image and there is no way that I could have painted that scene from the vantage point that I had, even if it was not raining that hard.  Stu
