No Linda, I think you are right about that pole grabbing your eye; it is close to the middle of the painting and sticks up above the hills.  Vertical elements like poles work best to stop the eye from going out of the painting, and if I had moved the pole over a little to the right, it would not be so obvious and might lead back into the painting if I continued the road back by the trees.  I will think about that and I may give it a try.   You have a good eye.   Thanks, Stu.

This is interesting and well painted as always.  My eyes get stuck on the pole and corner of pond.  Was that intentional or is it because I've not had enough morning coffee!
