Love the colour contrasting against the grey background - really well done!

Yes, the scene is widely known and it has been referenced often. I'd really like to plein air there but just way to self conscious. Thanks!

Since I am from New Jersey I remember this scene from my childhood more than 75 years ago!  This really make me smile............ I am sending it to you.  :-)   Welcome to the Complete Artist Kevin.

I think you did an amazing job Kevin.  And of course, everything is a learning experience!

Lori, you were right and there are some distractions in this scene.  It has been an effort to get through it but a good learning experience.  Thanks!

Lol...I haven't gotten out of my backyard yet!! Nice start Kevin..just be mindful of where you want the viewer to look...I'm thinking the tall building down the street, but then the bold orange and reds keep pulling me back.

I would be too shy to stand there, too. Think it takes time to fell confident in such a busy place. Being in group of painters feels completely different - at least for me. I experienced on the workshop in France this summer. It was even fun to paint in place full of tourists. Painting alone maybe needs some time to move from more hidden places to slightly populated places to crowd places.

Nice work Kevin. Be careful of over modelling the people - just the smallest dot of colour - it might alter the focal point and not let the eye travel down the street.

Since I went to school in Philly and get back there somewhat often, I have found there is great opportunities for subjects to paint in an urban location like this.  I did not finish this one with regards to the people.  It is close but I really need to add some small details to the people figures I had blocked in.   I would like to do more urban streetscapes but I am not comfortable standing in the public trying to paint when people walk by and/ or stop to ask questions.  Maybe when I have a bit more experience and confidence.
