My mid value crisis revealed!! Oh what a frustrating process..this is where I wound up after a good start, awful middle and ....needless to say, I plan on trying again!!

You know Lori, it's that light in your focus area, the same light that appears through the clouds, just to let you know that you have some minutes left before the storm starts and pours non stop for quite a loooong time!

Don't despair. There's a sense of the beautiful early Japanese monochromatic landscapes coming through here. One's eye is led up from the formality of the breaking waves into the subtle passage of the light falling on the cliff-face below the lighthouse, and through that to the lighthouse itself. 

The only problem I see is the less than confident way you painted the furthest ridge. That and the sky seem out of sync with subject of the painting, the light falling across the cliff and the breaking waves.
