Another session from life. I painted this in 2 hours. I'm trying hard to paint in a more considered way, rather than rushing because of the time limit. Not easy, at least for me! Comments and critiques welcome, bearing in minf the time available.
Oil on 16x12 in, 40x30 cm canvas.

Cristina, Michael, Colleen and Britt, your lovely words are so encouraging - thank you all.
Michael, yes I agree with your critique. I wasn't happy with that area, but ran out of time!
Another great portrait, Michael! I like your comment about painting in a "considered, not rushed way". It's like what Richard Schmid says about that in Alla Prima "Loose is used to described the end result, not necessarily the way of getting there". (paraphrased) No wonder I was unhappy with my paintings when I tried to "loosen up" with a couple glasses of wine at the easel ; ).
Wow! I love the brushstrokes and the energy created in this painting. Beautifully painted Michael!
Your loose, energetic style is awesome Michael!! You probably know how much I love this style from my comments on Thomas's work. I like the way you describe the changing planes of the face. There is a bit of confusion at the chin and hand area? ...but it really does not bother me as it does not have a lot of influence on this very good painting as a whole.
Powerful! Love how easy and fast you can ''play'' with brushes and colors to create a portrait! Awesome!
