Love your texture in the hills and smoothness in the water, great job on cropping and simplifying a complex scene

. I seem to have same problem with photographing paintings I take up to 20 + photos and it is amazing how different colour and contrast they look but they never seem to have the same intesity as the painting. I have tried how Richard takes his photos but unsucessful. Best way I have come up with Deb told me to do is outside on an overcast day still not 100%

Oops....forgot to mention the vanishing edges of the top mountains into the sky and the brighter color used in the middle ground to bring the eye inward.  Stellar!

I love what you did with this. You cropped it perfectly to show off a nice S shape which makes the eye flow through the painting.  The soft light values that you used seem to fit with the quiet reserved scene.  There is a nice blend of warm and cool colors and the way they sweep and shimmer together at the bottom of the painting is exciting. Your strong brush work, or palette knife ...can't tell...,in the near mountain on the right side juxtaposed to the soft sweeping brushwork at the bottom along with the detail work of the bottom tree gives great dimension and realism to this lovely painting.  In my eyes this is a winner!

Really soft and subtle colors, I love the blending and flow of the river as it contrasts with the broader strokes of the hills and mountains.

Your painting us breathtaking. I love the glow in the sky that is reflected in the icy water below. The long portrait format really leads the eye into that meandering valley.
