Acrylic on canvas 24"x16"
Recently painted this for a demonstration at a Rotary Art Show. The scene is Rock Island Bend on the Franklin River in Tasmania. The demo took about an hour. I haven't touched the painting since. I know the painting needs some fine tuning, but I thought I'd post it anyway. With some more work I think this can be a good painting.

Ana. Thank you so much for your comment. It is much appreciated.
Colleen, I'm looking forward to working on the new DVD, but it's likely to take a while. I can paint a lot faster than I edit media. Hopefully it will be finished by Christmas. :-) The focus will be interpreting the landscape.
It's a great painting! The rocks are the stars of the painting, I would not touch them. I like the hazy top of the cliff. The hill itself is absolutely beautiful, you don't have to spell out every bush. The way the hill looks now, make a perfect transition between the rocks with their cracks and multiple facets and the melting like top of the hill. I love it! and the water is master piece!
Hi Richard, It's great to hear from you. So pleased you are starting on another DVD. I can't wait to see it! Also it's great that 'abstract but believable' is the title as that is exactly what your beautiful paintings are like!
Thank you Silvana and Colleen for your comments. I often think of filming at demos, but it's too much to think about when I'm trying to paint and relate to the people watching. Easier to film in the studio at home. I'm starting work on the next painting DVD in February. I'm looking forward to that. Re 'abstract but believable', it is the look I'm after, so I'm pleased to have that as feedback. Thank you.
Great! You should have filmed the demo and posted it!!! :)
I love it Richard - especially the way you have painted the trees and the reflections in the water! I agree with Ann - abstract but believable.
Hi Ann. Thanks for your comments. What looks like crinkled tissue is texture from previous paintings, the result of using a canvas multiple times.
Great use of purple and green as partners in a painting. Interesting handling of the rocks. They are abstract but believable also. How did you do the texture in the water shadows ? It looks like crinkled tissue texture.
