Lori, I just use a point and shoot camera (I have a Samsung 12.2 megapixel camera with 5X zoom).  What I do is go out in the shade between about 10AM and 2PM and lay my painting down on my deck away from any walls (gray weathered redwood) and put some white paper under one edge; I just handhold the camera and shoot about 4 or 5 photos with a little bit of deck and white paper all around.  I then color correct for the white paper in my photo editor and just use its auto-functions for contrast and brightness.  I then crop the photo.   This really works pretty well.  An overcast day is better than a bright sunny day.   Richard has a blog on a similar method on this site.   Give it a try and see if it works better.   Stu

I'm having a tough time getting this to show in the correct colors..my camera isn't the greatest- a Nikon sureshot!! The only thing I'm ever sure of is not getting correct hues!! The actual painting is a bit more purple than this..any help would be appreciated!!
