Yes, I actually worked from the setup, but I also had my computer there with me to help me better place everything (I place a grid over the photo}  I'm glad you mentioned that about acrylics drying too dark.  I didn't know that,  I suppose I should have noticed.  I have noticed that sometimes I leave an undone painting to take a break and come back either liking or disliking it more than before I left.  Maybe that is why.

Nancy, I have not even started my painting yet, except in my head--I will be doing it this weekend.  Keep up your good work; you are doing very well.  It is a common problem for artists to paint shadows too dark, especially when they work from photos.  Since you work in acrylics, it is even more of a problem, because they always darken as they dry.  Stu

Beautiful, Stephanie. It makes me want to go back to the easel and start over. Bravo!

Thank you Stuart!  I may get around to doing that soon.  I wondered if the shadows were too dark.  I am working on a painting for my mom for Mothers Day.  I am hoping I can get it in the mail  by next week.  It is a field of blue bonnets.  Have you got your painting for the workshop up yet?  I will check of course.  Thank you again for the nice comments.  It is good to hear from you again.

Stephanie, this is really nice work.  It may be just the photograph, but you should try and lighten your cast shadows a little by throwing some reflected light from the casting object into them (i.e., some orange from the orange slice, green from the leaves.  You may want to pop a little more light into your highlights as well.  You have done a great job and this is a really good composition with a lot of visual interest.   Stu

Thank you Annie and Diane,  I'm finally losing my fear of the dark (colors.)  This time I had my setup in a cardboard box and the lighting was so much more dramatic.  I intentionally spent a lot of time setting up until I had a composition where I could really  "see" the colors.

Really like this Stephanie.

I tryed. I failed, so know how hard it is to get that beautiful realism and glow. I am afraid I am in holiday mode and don't have the tenacity just now :( Excuses excuses ) Maybe when we come home.
