Hi Silke, I am amazed at your beautiful work  ..and your technique!!

Yes it really takes time and patience :-) Every picture took me about 3 weeks of painting not includes the arranging and photographing beforehand. But I have to say, that I do only have about 2 hours a day for painting usually. Abit more at the weekend.

Having a job, where I always have to be quick it took me quite an effort to slow down in the beginning. But the it felt good. You do it piece by piece. One day this flower, next day that flower and so on.

Thank you for introducing the interesting technique.  This is the most structured teaching on realistic painting I have ever seen. I am impressed on how complicate the design you have painted here by using the technique.  It must took you a long time to finish it. Well done!!

She's an excellent teacher, I recommend her videos highly!

Hello Susan, I saw Sadies pictures. They are so beautiful! I love them. Did not buy any videos yet, but saw some short sequences. I too am trying to learn to draw well. It takes time :-)

Silke, beautiful paintings. I tried the Carder method; but, just like with watercolors, I don't have the patience--but I can see where it would be a fantastic way to learn the basics of color, values, etc.  Right now I'm going back to the basics and learning to draw better with Sadie Valeri--her videos are incredibly informative and well done; and, of course, I can't wait for Richard's next workshop!

Good. There are some videos to look at. And I think they can be helpful.

You are right, it is a very photographic style. I want to do some of Richards workshops now to gain a looser more painterly style. When I tried to follow his videos last year I failed and produced a lot of mud :-) and so I thought, I would give the more rigid and exact way a try to train my eye and learn to handle the materials first. Now I want to move on :-)

Thanks for your kind words.

Your paintings look like photographs!  Very nice, love the lavender daisy at the edge of the table.  Checked out the Calder method online...so no need to answer my question on your other ptg.!
