Progression of a painting - top row shows the source photos I used and the original painting I did - 16x20. Beneath are the first block in after watching the workshop video - I felt off to a good start - then there I went again - details, details details!! Have to toss my small brushes and have a glass of vino, then try again!!!

Thank you, Lori ,to share with us your experence. Beautiful finished painting!!
thanks for your comments Michael! I really struggled trying to keep it simple!!
Dear Lori, I thought I had made a comment about your painting, but I guess I did not ..So ....The version on the lower right corner is wonderful!!! I think you did a real good job of keeping the detail to a minimum ..A real nice job of cropping the photo to make a wonderful composition. Great areas of light and shadow, reflected light, color and temperature contrasts. You have nice luminosity as your forms merge into the light ...looks pretty good to me!!
Lori your painting is a WowZA. It may have more detail than you want, but nevertheless it is beautifully painted. Your foliage and flowers and buildings are incredible and I can feel my self going down that street and turning the corner! Smiles headed your way. :-)
thanks Ruby!
nice !!
