I do like the straight lines of the cloth against the curves of the plums
Wow, what a difference. You also get my vote!
Hey Bob once again lovely painting
Great brushstrokes and color harmony. The plums have nice personalities :) Love how you got the reflection on the jug for the apple. Nice work on the tablecloth as well. That's hard! :)
thanks for both your comments Dee. You are quite right about the apple though, I just could not get that to work for me. It was one of those flecked orange and yellow skins and I new I needed to simplify it somehow and ended up glazing a shadow colour over the red. In the end I just thought that will have to do! I was done.
I was pleased with the overall effect of the painting in spite of the apple, better luck next time aye.
Bob, I love the cloth and the way you've softened it at the lower edge...a fine mix of precision and looseness. And those plums are really yummy. The only thing is the apple seems to have got a bit muddy where it turns away from the light, which maybe to do with colour temperature...
Thanks Nancy, actually, that cloth gave me a bit of grief too. kept getting the various coloured squares in the wrong places. Finally had to approach it methodically, one strip at time, looking carefully where each colour fitted, then it was much easier.
I like this ! Cloth is Great
I really had a fight with this one. I think I re painted that apple 5 times, gosh that was a challenge. Also decided to smooth out the cloth after creating all those interesting folds for the photo. Decided to keep life simple and I think that was a good move. Again, like others, no grapes or pears available, so had to make do. The plumbs were fun to paint.
