I love the over all feel of peace and quiet, the water in he foreground with little pebbles the deeper greens and  the ripple look the shadows on the path... so what I am saying... I love the way you have tackled all the difficult parts :o)

An outstanding painting of Waipu Cove.  Very beautiful, I love your colors.  Smiles coming your way : ))

I had noticed all those rocks that you paint. Yeah, if you look at my posted paintings you will see that many of them contain detail that is not really necessary to deliver the message. Simplification is always my challenge. Stu

Thanks Stu :)  I had to laugh at your comment.  I didn't know there was such a thing as "detail addiction" but now that I know there is, I definitely have it.  I will have to add that to my "rock addiction". "Rock" as in the hard roundish things in nature - not the music.  :))

Tammy, you are having to work harder to overcome your left brains attention to detail.  Once you get used to it, you will start relaxing while you paint in a looser style.  Especially when you paint from photos, your brain wants you to copy everything.  You need to just distill the photo into its basic shapes and let loose with the brush and then make those shapes harmonize with one another and create interest in each one.  Your brain will not let you do that if you are still looking at the photo.  It is tough for all of us to loosen up and unshakle ourselves from reality and paint from our right brains.  I say that as a recovering detail addict.   Stu

Thanks Michael and Jessica.  I really appreciate your comments.  I still find it stressful to paint this way.  I find it much more relaxing to paint in a more realistic style.  Strange - I should feel more relaxed painting loose, and more stressed painting tighter - don't you think?  :)

This is very nice Tammy ..love the dappled light and your depiction of the shallow water and sunlit sand...

Yes, I find it difficult too - but this is a good job!  The wet sand in the foreground is very convincing & your shadows are interesting.  In general, to paint in this style, I think it takes a lot of skill to paint what appear to be casual, free & almost random brush strokes & end up with something beautiful!  It looks like it should be easy, but it's not!

Nice job Tammy. Sprinkle in some red pohutakawa flowers on the trees. The pohutakawa tree (New Zealand Christmas Tree) has red flowers this time of year. Stu

I understand about this loose painting style being hard.  I have spent lots of time on mine and still don't care for it all that much.  Your painting is very neat, like your style is, and yet I can see some loose strokes that took courage to lay on the canvas. You might want to break up some of the straight line on the left bushes and try to keep those bushes from having duplicate shapes.  I like your water reflections and the warm sand with pebbles sprinkled in the foreground.  Good job Tammy!
