I am so glad that you like it, Casey. Thanks to Richard too.
what abeautiful job! You get my vote!
Thank you Jessica.. I mixed the colours quite a lot directly on the canvas this time, as Richard taught us, to make them fresh looking. I am still afraid of doing it . Because I often used wrong colour and have to take it off. High risk to dirty the canvas. If you are new to this, you 'd better first make sure the colour you want and then do it. UnfutornatelyI seldem get the colour correct first time. It will slow down your work but better than doing a double work as I often do.This is from my mistake. Li
Stuart, You are right. I will make the differences of the value between the sky and the the sand on the left more obvious. I will also check and correct the shadow too. I appreciate your valuable help indeed.
Wonderful painting - such fresh & beautiful colour
Li, nice color, but the pohutakawa tree in front on the right should be casting its shadow at the bottom of the picture and your sand on the left should not be as light as the sky. Stu
Michael, I changed the shape of the foreground and put on more colour. I put on little figures, darken the branches of the tree and enhenced the grasses at the corner, darken the water in the shadow and definited the bank at the background. Thank you for your nice comments. Again, this is the design of Richard, I just copied what he did. Enventhough, I learnned a lot. I have some photos with the bright light background, I will try to see how far I can go by using what I learnned here without him as a cane. Painting is sooooo difficult!
I forgot put on little figures so I did it today. I changed the shape of the foreground too. This workshop is so interesting that I can not wait for the end of month to do it. But it is not easy one. Even I followed the instruction of Richard, I still struggled a lot. I am so happy that in this way of painting I used less time to finish it. Including retouching, I used 11hours. Also my colour are fresher, as I scrambled the colour on canvas sometime and have little chance for glazing.
Hi Ningning ....what did you retouch? ...I keep going back and forth between your two paintings, but cannot see it. Anyway, this looks so beautiful!! By the way, I love the color nuances you have in your shadows ..excellent!
