11x13" Acrylic on Canvas

My preferred medium has been oil with acrylic used occasionally for under painting so workshops in acrylic have provided a steep learning curve. My stay wet palette seems to turn into a too wet palette diluting the paint so would retarder be a better way to go. Any comments appreciated.

I didn't have a very good experience with the interactives but Richard makes them look very easy because he is a confident and fast worker - seems to know exactly what the next stroke, colour and shape will be and it works!

Nicely done Denis!! I especially like your wooden dock..it's gorgeous!nice work on the boats and buildings too..
I haven't used acrylics in years since falling in love with oils! The new interactive ones sounds really cool though..like the best of both worlds. In the past I did find using retarded a big help...I also used a stay wet palette..maybe you're making the sponge underneath do too wet? Try squeezing out just a little and see if it's less soupy.

But the painting turned out good. Well done. Unfortunately I do not paint in acrylics, so cannot help you.

Looks pretty good to me Denis! Personally I've never had much luck with a retarder and use the stay wet palette, but as Richard says - "paint like a millionaire " and use plenty of paint. If it's any help I use Winsor and Newton professional acrylics which I find are reasonably buttery and not too much colour shift- acrylics can be so frustrating in warm temperatures and certainly not good for much blending if you're a slow worker like I am
