You're right Lyndon.. everything but the kitchen sink. I call myself a primitive post modern neo-pointilist surreal pop op tonal colourist with tongue firmly in cheek. I figure if my art and I are to be put into a box it may as well be a box with a bit of room to move. :-)

While most of my work is figurative I don't think of it as realism. I do aim however to make the work believable and the key to that is tone and shape. If you can capture the tone and the shape, you can't help but capture the subject.

Lyndon, please do not correct it more. It is perfect all right. I found out that I should think well before paint. And if I find problems, I should modify it. But I also have to force myself to stop and go to paint another  one. Because, there is allways something you want to change, never end. That is a trap!! Try to avoid it.

Hi Lyndon the whole social networking scene is a bit baffling to me too, but here we are participating ourselves. My guess is that she is not real person at all but a scammer, which I believe must occur quite frequently on social networks. This site alone has probably given Ms. Hollands site a huge bust of traffic.

Hi Lyndon

I know you are just going thru and picking up art that you like but I'm trying to uncover a fraud, Eva Bell did not do at least 3 of the designs on her page this is art by other artist. I don't personally like that behaviour and I think she should remove them. Please comment on the forum if you agree I would like to keep this in the forefront for awhile so that she will respond and remove what isn't her work. Here is the link to the forum page I started. If you don't agree I will understand. http://thecompleteartist.ning.com/forum/topics/eva-bell-who-are-you

Lyndon, thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment on my Aspen Grove painting.  I keep getting feedback on I need to go darker, so I am going to gather my nerve up and go darker.  Yes, this is the first time I tried the Felmish tech on a landscape, althought I did not do it 100% correctly, and only used the gray layer to try to get my values.I am still enjoying the technique though.  Ro

I can not figure out how to show you the 2 paintings or I would.  2 artist copies a masters portrait in acrylics.  One did it in the normal way and the other was done in the Flemish method.  Lyndon.....you could TELL.  The second one was so good you could see her breathing!  NO KIDDING.  You can fix anything in the gray layer.  So keep working on any changes in that layer and you will be fine.  OH, hey, I even bought some black acrylic and my next painting I will give the umber and gray layers in acrylics a try.  I will switch to oils for the color layer.  Should save a lot of time, if I can figure out how to paint with the acrlyics - control and all.  Ro

Lyndon, I know what you mean about not quite getting something right on a portrait.  I was going to do a copy of one of Bouguereau's paintings in the Flemish Tech with 2 other ladies on another site.  I had heard a few people say they just "painted it right on", so I though I would try.  In the umber layer and gray layer I did not notice that I did not have enough room between her upper lip and end of her nose. In the color layer it showed up.  She looked human, just not very pretty because of the goof.  I never finished it as I though she was so ugly!  I am really not into doing portraits anyway.  Ro

Hi Lyndon,
Thank you for stopping by and commenting on "Eggs in Pastel". Yes, you are right - the photo has flattened the effect of the original painting. A little disappointing, but as artists, we know to expect these things from cameras. :-))
