Profile Information

How would you categorize your painting style?
colorist, impression, realistic
Which medium do you prefer? eg. oils, acrylics, etc.
Oils at the moment, but have done WC, graphite, gouache
Are you a full time artist?
Part Time
Who are your favourite 2 artists?
Monet, Barry John Raybould, Richard Robinson
Do you have any goals for your painting?
To study color and impressionism. I want to be a landscape artist and let color say it all. // 12/8/10 I am in the process of learning the Flemish Technique with a group on another site. Rembrandt used this technique, so it should be a good experience. I will post when I finish a painting a few months from now! LOL

Constructive critiques always welcome!

Prints of some of my paintings can be purchased at Fine Art America at the website below.

Well it's pretty good - I would try and follow Michaels' advice - if you do that it might be really quite nifty (might get a fairly dramatic light effect!). As for wiping it depends if you need the canvas/support - I have around 200 paintings in the garage!!! so I can't justify buying new canvases - I just white one over (gesso), but it's preferable to keep everyhting if you can!

Yep, well it works really well for me the compo and the concept/feeling - and even more than looking at the points we can improve in our paintings, we need to rememebr the things we got right so as no to 'dis-acquire' them!

Saving Oil Paint

Saving oil paint is always on the oil artist mind. (my opinion)

Everyone has heard how well putting paint in the freezer works, and I did that successfully for years.  Living in a motor home with a small freezer made that no longer work for me too well.

Next I heard about paint under water.  Surprisingly it works, and I did not need to refrigerate. I have some small Carmex Lip Gloss (stuff)  (the jar is 1.25" wide and 1" tall--small).  I can scrape up my little dabs and wipe…
