HI EVERYBODY!! I found extremely interesting and challenging, RICHARD ROBINSON'S "Beautiful Grays" YOUTUBE video, and the notes on MASTERING COLOUR. RICHARD'S view on colour is very lively and I am trying to get the knack of it.... which is indeed a challenge!
I would appreciate all your critiques on light effect, colour harmony, greys... and of course, your first feeling evoked by my painting of my son SPARKLING SANTIAGO. It is a live portrait done in 45'...
I prefer water mediums so I make my own alchemy similar to oils, with bee wax and soap and different powders like those used for floors in the construction which is some kind of iron oxide in primary colours, also achieving more hues by mixing with tempera and watercolour as well. The advantage is that it is water soluble, dries fast and cheap...
THANKS A MILLION!!… EXPECT YOUR COMMENTS EAGERLY..

If you enjoy making your own pigments etc. that is cool, because that is an art form in itself. However, if you want to grow as an artist, "Buy" everything, I mean everything and put the time you have in painting. I see a lot of potential in your work for greatness.
Hi,
This type of portrait falls under a particular style of painting and is certainly awesome. The young man looks handsome. The only critique I have is to have some warmth in the skin… but it could very well be your artistic thing to keep everything cold. Good Luck painting.

Wow Carol! This is super! About your comment on your blog post, it would help a lot if you placed it here, just under the picture, so they are together. I think your painting is great, the only thing I would say,is perhaps darkening a bit the background towards the left as the ligt is coming from the right? Just an idea.
