Great lead in to background and push of warm colors in the grass.  Terrific mood and very much like a late afternoon scene at sunset on a snowy day.

I did love your painting for the destibution to the warm and cool colors, and the mystery of the background, can almost depict lights from houses far away. Wish I won it!!!!!!

I can't stop looking at this...oops 'my' painting. It's so rich and buttery. I really must try oils someday. Fantastic!

I have to say this really is the most valuable project I've ever participated in!!! And I'm not one for gushing. I've printed my own painting, printed the crit (thank you Richard for that) and now will print this painting and hang it in my studio for reference. I don't have much time to comment loads on the forum but would also like to thank absolutely everyone who participated as I feel I learnt something from each and every painting uploaded. I raise my virtual glass of bubbly to you all ..... clink!

What appeals to me in this painting is the movement - looks even a bit windy and blustery, whereas the photo looks static and calm. The pathway will always be more intriguing than a field, probably, and the focused light draws my eye away from the overwhelming tree (a problem I had with the original). But what captured my eye on the photo was the immense shadow across the field/lake, and maybe the stillness. So interesting to see what turns people on in a scene. I see now the extent of artistic license available (for example the background). I do really like the color scheme - the background in particular in contrast with the warms up front. Thanks for sharing this and the opportunity to study more.

Very little counter change, forground grass has very little detail could be a background for the amount of detail it has.  The painting has no feeling just paint on board dus not move me ? Bit like a placement of the parts to see if they work, if they do then do the painting for real.??
