I know, I know! this is not a white jug. I was so sick of the complicated jug I used for my first 2 efforts I was looking for a simpler white jug but I also can see from doing this that the white jug is the very essence of this challenge. White is so much harder to manage, then this brown bowl was. I'm finishing up a new piece today with a sweet little white jug I found at the thrift shop the other day. 9"X12" Oil on Panel

Denise - this is lovely! I love your slab of wood with the bowl!

Denise, you have outdone yourself with this one.  The way you set up this composition with your pear colors reflected in the dripping glaze on the bowl and the fabulous translucency of your grapes makes this an absolutely stunning painting.  I called you the "Queen of Pears" last time; I think you are on your way to "Queen of Still Lifes".  Stu

You should be the winner based on your many paintings that are beautiful. I think this one is my favorite of your paintings.

Thanks to all who have commented on this piece. I think this is my favorite to date but I'm wondering if it too hasn't got some ellipses issues also, although I did manage to keep it loose and maybe that hides it a bit.

I helped my brother today bring in some very large and thick new pine wood slabs and am going to make a coffee table out of some of the surplus for myself. It will have a beautiful live edge with a big knot at one end. I'm hoping to do some more still life setups on that for the future. But it maybe more then a month from now. I can hardly move tonight, that was pretty heavy lifting for an aging gal!

Wow, Denise.  You just keep getting better and better.  The grapes are wonderful!

Lovely work - a nice triangular composition from up the side of the pear then down the stalk of the grapes and then along the top of the wood back to the pear.  And I agree with Timothy ... great wood

Hey.. i like your persistance and how you challenge yourself Denise. I can relate to painting the white vase. I love the way you captured the translucent light on the grapes. Something that i need to master.  The slight blue against the brown on the bowl  brought my attention to the bowl. The slight shadow to the right is very nice.  Good luck on the challenge.

Your grapes are soooooo beautiful ! The contrast between the translucent grapes and the solid wood is nice. A white jug would add elegance but the little brown bowl is more country.
