Hi Lyndon, Sorry for my late reply but it has been a very busy weekend! I grew up in Camp Hill and Mt Gravatt, so I'm from the south side. Funny how we quote sides of the river! But I know it has always been this way. :-). I hope your website goes well and happy painting!
Hi Lyndon, No problems - good to hear from you. I know what its like with websites etc. Once you get on the computer, time just disappears! Canungra is about 30 km from Wongawallan. We are much closer to Mt Tamborine which is not far from here. We are up on the high mountains to the west of the Gold Coast. What part of Brisbane are you from? I was born in Brisbane and have lived there most of my life.
Hello Lyndon, thank you for the like of my Iris painting. Apologies for the late response. I'm currently limited to w/c, but hope to get into oils at some point.
Thank you for your nice comment about that boat. It is the first time that I paint a boat. I will do a bigger one. This one is too small , some details could not be expressed well. Thank you also for letting me know why you stopped for a while. You convinced me. Good on you. Welcome back to have fun with us soon.
Thank you , Lyndon, for encourage me to improve. I have to keep on looking for the greies of the nature. Today, I finished a boat. It was late afternoon but the sky was still very bright. I tried to make it grey down a bit. Hope I did it better in terms of grey color in the background. I am also waiting for your new work soon.
Thank you , Lyndon, for your nice words about my job. My question is that after your masterpiece of the portrait you did not upload more your work. Every time I chech you I was frustrated as I could not see more of your work. A few month ago, I took some nice photos of sunset. But I did not know how to paint them. In workshop15 Richard taught me how to do it. I will try them to paint my own stuffs. You are such a good photographer and good painter too, please upload your work and let us share with you. Waiting for seeing your new work for next workshop. Merry Christmas to you! Li
Thanks for your comments. You made me laugh this am. We worked at our son's restaurant last night and I really ached getting out of the sack this morning, just feeling the big 63 coming on some days. So no child bride! Our daughter is our first kid and she and her husband were overseas as missionaries in Russia and Ireland. When they finally moved back to the states, they ended up very near our home and adopted my very beautiful granddaughter after not being able to have childrn for the first 10 years of their marriage. The wait was worth it and two of her first words were what she calls my husband and our dog's name, but no "gramma" yet! We'll see what she has to say when thye see the painting! LOL Have a great week. Go paint!
Hi Lyndon, just popped back on to have another look at Richards workshop and found all your super comments. The thing about painting is that you're never quite sure if your doing a good job. This site has been an inspiration to me in the short time i've been on. Its just what i needed to carry on and start to really branch out into landscape art (pardon the pun)lol. Thank you from the heart, hope you achieve your goal sir.......:-)
Hi Lyndon. Thanks for your comment re the Pilbara Landscape. I get confused. I'm never quite sure where to respond to comments. Anyhway, your comment is appreciated. Cheers
Lyndon: The "Dais" is a typo i don't know how to correct.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try water sol. oils. I've dabbled in most media and will experiment. I regularly use watercolor and pastels. Each one has problems. Pastels can give amazing results but the dust affects my breathing as bad as oils. For me, watercolor may be the best for indoor work. Whatever happens I will continue with oils - but outside. Took your advice re: Waterfall painting, and re-did the actual water tumbling over the rocks etc. does look much better and more realistic. Am also now using Atelier interactive acrylics, they are lovely to work with. Do you think that it is possible to use acrylics and oils together, am wondering about that one.
